New patients

What to know before your first visit.

New patients are welcome at Defiance Dental Group, and the same three dentists who see long-standing patients see first visits too. Most insurance is accepted, and payment is flexible for the treatment that is not covered. Below is what to bring, how the billing actually works, and what to expect if a time needs to change.

What to bring to your first visit

  • Your insurance information
  • Any recent dental X-rays
  • Your driver's license or another photo ID
  • A list of the medications you currently take

New patient forms are available to fill out ahead of your appointment, which saves time standing at the desk. Call (419) 782-7950 and the front desk will get a form to you before you come in.

How the insurance billing actually works

Most insurance is accepted, and claims are billed electronically from this office, so your paperwork goes in from our end rather than yours. Our staff will look at your specific plan and help you get the most out of the benefits it offers, before any treatment starts.

One thing worth saying plainly: treatment here gets planned around what your teeth actually need, not around what a particular plan happens to pay for. Where the two differ, we tell you before anything is scheduled, and you decide from there.

Paying for treatment

Day to day

Co-pays are due at the time of your visit. We take cash, check, MasterCard and Visa.

Larger treatment

We work with CareCredit, which offers no-interest and extended payment plans for patients who are approved. Ask at the desk before treatment is scheduled and we will walk you through it.

Insurance

Most insurance accepted and billed electronically for you. See above for how that works.

From patients

“I have been going to Defiance Dental Group for over 10 years now. They are the best! Very friendly staff with wonderful doctors.”

Michael S.

“Everyone is friendly and helpful. I especially appreciate the time they take to explain what they are doing while your child is having the examination and cleaning.”

Christy S.

Changing or missing an appointment

We ask for 48 hours' notice to change or cancel a time, so the slot can go to someone else who needs it. A fee is charged for appointments missed without that notice. Call as soon as you know and we will move you rather than charge you.

Bringing a child in for the first time

We care for people of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly, so there is no need to run all over town to find a separate dentist for your kids. Parents are welcome to stay in the room, and the assistant talks through each step of the examination and cleaning as it happens, so nobody in the chair is left guessing.

Tell us it is a first visit and whether it is for you or one of the kids, and the front desk will take it from there.
